I dare you!
"What I have dared to do, I have desired, and what I have desired, that I will do"
William H. Danforth (Born 1870, died 1956) had a genuine interest in people regardless of their ages and backgrounds. He recognized that each person has special gifts. He delighted in seeing talents developed and potential harnessed. He regularly issued the challenge, "Be yourself and be the best you can be all the time."
His philosophy, expressed in this little book still continues to influence the lives of many. If it were written in the present, the language used would be more inclusive and more illustrations would celebrate the achievements of women in professional leadership positions as well as in traditional jobs. Below is the original version written in 1931 with examples from that time. The challenge - the challenge to be the best you can be and to give your best, to live paying attention to the four areas of life and to serve others-
